TORONTO, November 29, 2018 – ‘Tis the season of giving and a unique partnership between Red Door Family Shelter and local, family-run business, Chef’s Catering, allows companies to give back in an entirely new way. Specializing in corporate foodservice, Chef’s Catering will match every meal purchased from them, with a meal for the women and children seeking refuge at Red Door Family Shelter, starting this December and continuing through 2019. So, this holiday season, companies are encouraged to order and celebrate for a cause and leverage their office parties, lunch-and-learns and team-building sessions to provide those in need with healthy and delicious food.
Located in downtown Toronto, Red Door Family Shelter is a charitable organization that provides emergency shelter to women and children fleeing intimate partner violence. The shelter houses approximately 300 homeless mothers and their children annually, not only providing them with food, shelter, and safety, but also with counselling, legal support and help finding affordable housing once they are ready to leave. Their mission struck a cord with Justin Siklis, President of Chef’s Catering, whose goal is to donate 50,000 meals over the next year.
“When people feel safe, are cared for and fed well, it gives them a sense of dignity and it empowers them in other aspects of their life,” explains Siklis. “That’s why we wanted to partner with Red Door—to help these women and kids start their new chapter on the happiest and healthiest note possible.”
“We are humbled and extremely excited to announce our partnership with Chef’s Catering,” explains, Carol Latchford, Executive Director at Red Door Family Shelter. “This opportunity will have a huge impact on our organization’s bottom-line and the families we serve.”
